Now What?

OK. I've kept my part of the deal by announcing that I believe Walter Bayley is quite probably the killer. There's much more, but I'm confining myself to what is readily available in the public record. (I have to save something for my book, right?) I'm still writing and still doing research. And in case you're wondering, I have yet to find a photograph of Walter Bayley, and I've looked in most of the archives in Los Angeles.

I should note that I have spoken to people who recall Walter Bayley as a gentleman, a fine surgeon and a good family man. However, the people who recall him from his final years frequently express surprise at the transformation he underwent as his mental impairment increased. If anyone can offer more information on Dr. Bayley, I would like very much to hear from you.

You can e-mail me here, but please put "Black Dahlia" in the subject field. I'd hate to mistake an important message for junk mail and delete it without reading it.

As I said in the beginning, my goal is to write a book, not be a webmeister, so I'm keeping the site simple. Every minute I spend with the Web site is less time writing. I will update it from time to time, but my writing schedule will preclude maintaining mailing lists, conducting chats, running a bulletin board, etc. etc. So please keep checking back for more information.

In the meantime, if you want to do something to honor the memory of Elizabeth Short, please make a donation in her name to:

Thanks again,
Larry Harnisch
