On Jan. 21, 1947, the Los Angeles Examiner photographed Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson, above, identifying a photo of Elizabeth Short and an unidentified man as a couple that rented a room at their motel. "Black Dahlia Avenger" says that they identified the man as Dr. George Hodel, shown at left. But take a close look at the pictures they are examining. It's clearly this photo, close-up at right, taken from a familiar series found in Elizabeth Short's photo album. Does he even vaguely resemble Dr. George Hodel?
